First News Paper to implement 

Majithia Wage Board Award

New Delhi: 'Assam Tribune' in Guwahati today (8th February 2012) became the first  Newspaper to fully implement the Majithia Wage Board Award for Newspaper employees.
This  was stated by Mr. M.L. Talwar, General Secretary, All India Newspaper Employees Federation, 29, Shankar Market, Connaught Place, New Delhi,India in a press note issued on Wednesday 8th  February 2012.
However, there was no word on payment of arrears.
Meanwhile, The Supreme Court is likely to give a new date for hearing on the petitions regarding Wage Board during this week, press note said.

Prof. Harishchandra Bhat Reacted:
Dear all, We must congratulate the Assam Tribune for breaking the ice and implementing the Wage Board Recommendations. Hope good sense will prevail upon others including Newspapers in Karnataka to implement the same. Government of India and the State Governments must see to it that the Wage Board recommendations are implemented totally in the interest of justice and fair play.
