World’s first ‘Zika’ virus vaccine made in India
Hyderabad (India): World’s first “Zika” virus vaccine
is made in India, scientists in Hyderabad claimed on Wednesday 3rd
February 2016.
They also announced that they patented the medicine.
“We have been working on Zika vaccine for last more
than 15 months’ said Dr. Krishna Ella, Chairman & MD Bharat Biotech
International Ltd which developed the vaccine.
We have developed a "Zika" vaccine
candidate. Want Govt's help in strategy & clinical trial issues, Dr.
Krishna Ella said.
We were working on Chikungunya vaccine and we thought
if that comes to India, the same mosquito is likely to bring Zika and we worked
to develop vaccine for Zika, Dr. Krishna Ella said.
