Bengaluru: Here is an unique experiment where a NGO and an E- Commerce portal joining hands to create online market space for the products which were manufactured in remote areas mostly by women folks. Eyeing on the fast growing E-Commerce platform, Shri Dharmastala “SIRI” Gramodyoga Samsthe along with their Online Channel Partners www.homemadeonline.in  are jointly launching a mobile sales van “Sakhi Utsav” at Bangalore to connect with consumers directly. This mobile shop will take the weavers of traditional hand woven sarees, khadi garments and authentic food products to the door step of the customers.

SIRI - a rural women empowerment initiative, is a Not-For-Profit company registered under Indian Companies, Shri Dharmasthala Siri Gramodyoga is a producers company owned by 2000 Self Help Groups of coastal Karnataka.

Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala temple is the founder President of the Company and continues to be its mentor. Under the able guidance of Mrs. Hemavathi V Heggade, Siri is marching towards achieving its objective.
At present the company has production centers in 295 villages in remote and backward areas of the Karnataka state. It has provided direct employment to more than 5,000 rural women folk.

Weavers to Market:
The saree is the world’s oldest un stitched garment. Over the centuries it has not only transformed into a sensuous, glamours all time wear for women but also the canvas for the livelihood for weavers.

With the objective of retaining the glory of the traditional weaving, Siri is working with the self help groups, which are involved in the weaving handloom sarees. It is marketing the finest saree from Bhagyanagar, Monakalmuru, Shigli, Iikal made by  women Self Help Groups.

SIRI’s Executive Director Dr. LH Manjunath said that, Khadi, a symbol of Nationalism, Equality and Self Reliance. Mahathma Gandhiji presented Khadi as a symbol of Nationalism, equality and self-reliance. Siri stands for the realization of Gandhiji’s dream of Rama Rajya.

Siri has line of apparels in Khadi including ethnic wear, Kurthas, Kurthies, Shirts, Formals, trendy office wear for Men & Women, under the brand name Swadesh and Jagruthi.

Readymade Garments: Siri brand of readymade garments is one of the major products of Siri. 400 women are working in 10 production units across Dakshina Kannada, Haveri and Hubli, Dharwad districts. Formal shirts, Casual shirts, Jubba, Ladies and Children wear are being produced and marketed under Siri brand.

Apart from this, Siri produces, food products; pickles, baby food, snacks, squashes etc, Pure Honey & coconut Oil from the gardens of Dakshina kannada, Various perfumed Agarbathi’s, Laptop Bags, Backpacks for school and colleges and Areca Leaf Plates.
