French secret report reveals Netaji not died in Air Crash

Netaji didn't die in air crash,
not dead up to 1947 too
French secret report reveals

New Delhi/ Chennai: Though NDA Government led by Narendra Modi, after declassification of secret files on Netaji, stated in RTI reply that Netaji died in aircrash of Taihoku on 18th August 1945, Paris based historian JBP More revealed that He didn’t died on that day.

Mr. More stumbled upon a brief French secret service report dated December 11, 1947 at the National Archives of France, has come up with a finding that Bose didn’t die in an air crash and was still alive in 1947, The Times of India reported on Sunday 16th July 2017.

How did Subhas Chandra Bose die?

To find the answer, the Indian government had appointed three commissions. The Shah Nawaz Committee (1956) and Khosla Commission (1970) said that Bose died in an air crash on August 18, 1945 at Taihoku airport in Japanese-occupied Taipei, while the Mukherjee Commission (1999) concluded that he did not die in an air-crash. The government, however, rejected the findings of the Mukherjee Commission. But that didn't stop scholars from dwelling deep to find the truth.

"It is not stated in the Paris document that Subhas Chandra Bose died in the air crash in Taiwan. Instead, it is reported that Bose's present whereabouts were unknown as late as December 1947, which again implies that the French did not buy the theory that Bose died in the air-crash on August 18, 1945," said More, who teaches at the Institut des Hautes Etudes Economiques et Commerciales, Paris.

The gist of the matter for the French secret service, according to More, is that Bose did not die in the air crash on August 18, 1945, as commonly held. "But he escaped from Indochina alive and his whereabouts were unknown as late as December 11, 1947, as reported in the secret document. This implies that he was alive somewhere but not dead in 1947," said More, quoting the report written for the "Haut Commisariat de France for Indochina "SDECE Indochinese Base BCRI No. 41283 csah Ex No. 616, under the title: "Archival Information on Subhas Chandra Bose."

"In this report, it is clearly stated that he was the ex-chief of the Indian Independence League and a member of Hikari Kikan, a Japanese organisation. It is further stated clearly that he escaped from Indochina, though it does not state how," he said.
The British and the Japanese too declared that Bose died in an air crash after he took off from Saigon on his way to Tokyo. But the French government had always been silent on the issue, though Vietnam/Indochina was a French colony during the 1940s. So the findings of More attain significance.

"Very quickly after the Japanese debacle and surrender on 15th August 1945, the French arrived in Saigon, along with British troops and took charge of Saigon. But unfortunately they left no direct accounts of Bose's death in the air crash. They had never endorsed the theory that Bose died in the crash," said More.

Scholars like Kingshuk Nag said the findings in the report should be taken seriously . "Even though the Mukherjee Commission concluded that Bose didn't die in an air crash, the government didn't recognize it. The Centre's idea to 'declassify' secret files on Bose may not help. But findings like this have significance," said Nag, a noted journalist and author of the book "Netaji: Living Dangerously."

Nehru out from Raj Text book, Cong angry

Nehru out from Raj Text book, Cong angry
Jaipur/New Delhi:  Students of class VIII in Rajasthan's schools will no longer study the contributions of Jawaharlal Nehru to the freedom struggle or post-independence India after references to the first prime minister was dropped from a text book, leaving the Congress fuming and threatening agitation.

The references to Nehru have been removed from two chapters in the revised social science textbook which will be introduced from this academic session in schools affiliated to Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education.

Though the book is not available in the market yet, the information has been uploaded on the website of the Rajasthan State Textbook Board, which publishes the book for the state education board.

The "deliberate" omission has angered the Congress, which said the RSS-BJP combine can "tweak text books but cannot rewrite" history. Rajasthan Congress chief Sachin Pilot said his party would launch an agitation, not only in Rajasthan but across the country over the issue that reflected ""the petty mindedness and narrow mindset of the RSS-BJP."

The book has references to Mahatma Gandhi, Veer Sawarkar, Bhagat Singh, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Subhas Chandra Bose and has included the name of a leader of the freedom movement Hemu Kalani but there is no mention of Nehru either in the chapter on Freedom Movement or that on India After Independence.

The earlier edition of the book titled 'Social Science for Class VIII' also had a table on 'Major Leaders of National Movement' that featured the names and briefs on contribution of Dadabhai Naoroji, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru and Subhas Chandra Bose.

In that box, the reference to Nehru said: "After becoming a barrister, he joined the national movement. He later became the President of Congress, leader of the Interim Government and the first Prime Minister of Independent India."

That particular box, besides other references to Nehru in the book, is also not there in the new edition of the book.

A revision of several textbooks has been carried out under curriculum restructuring by the Udaipur-based State Institute of Education Research and Training (SIERT).

Telhara University's ruins older than Nalanda, Vikramshila

Telhara University's ruins older than Nalanda, Vikramshila

Patna: The remains of Telhara University, discovered in Bihar, are older than Nalanda and Vikramshila universities, officials said here Sunday, 14th December 2014.

Bihar's Arts, Culture and Youth Affairs Secretary Anand Kishor said that based on key findings from the excavation, it can be confirmed that Telhara University was older than Nalanda and Vikramshila.

"A team of archaeologists has found four Buddhist monastery seals made of terracotta, bearing the inscriptions - Sri Prathamshivpur Mahavihariyaye Bikshu Sanghas - in Pali language in Nalanda district that indicated the university's real name, which is usually described as Telhara University," Kishor said.

Kishor said Chinese traveller Heuen Tsang visited Telhara in the 7th century AD and he mentioned the university as "Teleadaka" in his narrative.

Kishor told IANS that archaeologists have discovered bricks that were used to lay the ancient university's foundation.

"Bricks' dimension 42x32x6 cm revealed a Kushan, first century AD, influence. That is a strong evidence that the Telhara University is older than fourth century's Nalanda University and seventh century's Vikramshila University.".

Kishor said the archaeological discovery was a landmark achievement for Bihar.

He said archaeologists based on previous findings placed the Telhara University in the Gupta period between fourth and seventh century. But the new findings cleared all doubts as to the university's age.

Atul Kumar Verma, director of state archaeology, said: "It is a positive development in the field of excavation in Bihar."

"After discovery of remains of fourth century ancient Nalanda and eight century Vikramshila universities, this is the discovery of remains of third ancient university in the state," Verma said.

He said remains of Telhara University were found during excavation of a 45-foot high mound. "We have also found a huge floor, statues in bronze and stone, and over 100 seals."

Verma said Heuen Tsanng has given a graphic account of a cluster of as many as seven Buddhist monasteries flourishing at "Teleadaka", also called "Tiladhak", at Telhara site, where about a thousand monks studied under the Mahayana school of Buddhism.

The excavation at Telhara site was started in 2009 after the then chief minister Nitish Kumar took special interest in it.

Mumbai: Pritam Munde, the second daughter of late BJP leader Gopinath Munde, scripted Lok Sabha history winning the Beed seat in Maharashtra on 19th October 2014 Sunday in a bypoll by a record margin of nearly seven lakh votes.

The record for a maximum victory margin in the Lok Sabha polls is currently held by Anil Basu of CPI-M who won by 5,92,502 votes from Arambagh in West Bengal during the 2004 Lok Sabha elections.

Meanwhile
Knocking out Congress from its bastions, the Modi wave placed BJP on the cusp of forming a government in Maharashtra with unexpected support from NCP while it stormed to power on its own in Haryana.

The assembly elections, seen as the first major test of
Narendra Modi's popularity since the Lok Sabha success, reflected the continued dominance of BJP in the two states, where he mounted an aggressive campaign.

In Haryana, the party got a majority on its own for the first time winning 47 of the 90 seats, up from a meagre four in the last elections. Congress, which ruled the state for ten years, was reduced to 15 from 40 seats. INLD came second with 19 seats.

The BJP also put up a remarkable show in Maharashtra, where it junked its oldest ally
Shiv Sena over seat sharing, by bagging 122 seats in the 288-member Assembly, 23 short of majority figure of 145. It had won 47 in the last elections.

Shiv Sena was left with 63 seats and could play no significant role with NCP (41 seats) offering unexpected and unconditional outside support to BJP to form the government.

The Congress, which headed the government, was reduced to 42 from 81 it had in the outgoing House. The MNS, headed by Raj Thackeray, was routed getting only one seat against 13 it had. Instead, the Hyderabad-based Muslim Majlis opened its account with two seats.

Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray hinted as much when he said he would not like to give unsolicited support because BJP may take the backing of NCP which was in power with the Congress for the last 15 years. NCP was described by Modi as Nationalist Corrupt Party as he had attacked its leaders Sharad Pawar and others as coming from the "same Congress clan".

The BJP Parliamentary Board met in the evening but ahead of it party chief Amit Shah made it clear that he was not averse to NCP support, virtually ignoring its 25 year old saffron partner Shiv Sena.

Modi, who attended the meeting, described BJP's victory in the two states as "historic" and said it was a matter of immense happiness and pride for the party.

Shah said the victory was the stamp of approval on the performance and policies of the Modi government and demonstrated that the Modi wave was not over as claimed by rivals on the basis of small by-elections victories recently.

The newly-elected BJP MLAs are expected to meet on 20th October 2014 Monday to elect their chief ministers.
