Kochi, (Kerala): Renowned Malayalam playback singer Radhika Thilak passed away at a private hospital here today, 20^th September 2015, her family sources said. She was 45.

Thilak was diagnosed with cancer one-and-a half years back and had since been under medication. She is survived by husband Suresh Krishna and a daughter.

A popular face on Doordarshan, Thilak had sung in around 70 Malayalam films including, 'Guru', 'Ottayal Pattalam' and 'Deepasthambham Mahashcharyam'. She was also known for her stage programmes.

Thilak was taken to hospital from her Panampally Nagar residence this evening with fever. She lost her battle against cancer at 8.15 PM, hospital sources said.

Kalinga Rao’s wife Meenakshamma No More

Udupi: Meenakshamma (92), wife of renowned singer Pandeshwara Kalinga Rao (1914-1981) and a resident of Moodukeri in Barkur in Udupi taluk, passed away on Mondya, January 25^th 2015 in a hospital at Manipal.

She died after brief illness.

The last public function she had attended was her husband's birth anniversary observance held under the aegis of the department of Kannada and culture of the state government in Ravindra Kalakshetra, Bengaluru on Sep 6, 2014.

The event had been inaugurated by chief minister S Siddaramaiah.

Rao and Meenakshamma had four children, Prema, Vasant, Sharat and Santosh.

Regarding P Kalinga Rao

Renown singer Sri Kalinga Rao was reportedly a primary school dropout. But his command over six languages was regarded as stupendous.

He is still considered as having been the pioneer in the 'bhaavageete' genre.

He is well remembered for his evergreen Kannada songs likeyaakaLuve ele Ranga, Yaaru hitavaru ninage, maaDu sikkadalla, nageyu barutide, baagiloLu kaimugidu, anthintha heNNu neenalla andiLidu baa taayi iLidu baa, and not forgetting udayavaagali namma cheluva KannaDa naaDu.
